Booking a red snapper fishing charter is highly dependent on the federally mandated seasons, which typically open in early summer. These seasons are short and highly anticipated, so it’s crucial to book well in advance. Captain Grant stays current on all Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council regulations, including bag limits and size requirements, ensuring your trip is not only successful but also compliant. He targets offshore structures where these prized fish congregate. Planning for a Target Species Excursions during the declared season is the key to experiencing one of the most exciting offshore fishing opportunities the Gulf has to offer.

Our occasional deep sea fishing charters venture further offshore into the deeper waters of the Gulf of Mexico, presenting a completely different environment and range of species compared to our inshore bay trips. These excursions are for anglers seeking bigger game and a true blue-water adventure. Depending on the season and conditions, we can target powerful species like Kingfish (King Mackerel), Cobia (Ling), Mahi Mahi, and Wahoo. These trips require more travel time and are heavily weather-dependent, but the reward is often a fish of a lifetime. Explore the possibilities of our Occasional Offshore Trips for an unforgettable challenge.

A half day fishing charter is perfect for families with younger children, first-time anglers, or anyone looking for a fantastic fishing experience without committing an entire day. These trips are typically four to five hours and focus on the highly productive inshore bays and jetties. You can absolutely expect to catch quality fish! We target exciting species like Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Flounder, which are plentiful in these waters year-round. Captain Grant’s expertise ensures that even on a shorter trip, your time is used efficiently to get you on the fish quickly for a fun, action-packed outing.

While we provide all the essential fishing gear, tackle, and bait, you should bring a few personal items to ensure your comfort. We highly recommend bringing a valid Texas fishing license with a saltwater stamp for anyone 17 or older. Additionally, pack sunscreen, a hat, polarized sunglasses, and a small cooler with any drinks and snacks you’d like. It’s also wise to bring a camera to capture the memories! Dress in layers, as the weather on the water can change quickly, and wear non-slip shoes for safety.

Absolutely! We welcome anglers of all skill levels, especially beginners. Our philosophy is built on ‘remembering the fun of it,’ and a huge part of that is creating a supportive, no-pressure environment. Captain Grant is an excellent teacher and takes great pride in guiding first-timers. He’ll show you how to cast, how to properly handle the rod and reel, and what to do when a fish is on the line. We provide all the necessary equipment and hands-on guidance to help you feel confident and have a successful, enjoyable experience on the water.

Safety is our number one priority. Captain Grant constantly monitors the marine forecast. If conditions are deemed unsafe (e.g., high winds, heavy thunderstorms, or other marine warnings), we will cancel the trip and work with you to reschedule for a better day. However, fish often bite well in less-than-perfect weather, like an overcast sky or light rain. As a highly experienced captain, Grant knows how to adapt to the conditions, finding sheltered spots and using different techniques to ensure you still have a productive and enjoyable fishing trip.

Yes, we love hosting families and creating lasting memories for all ages! Our charters are very family-friendly, and we welcome children ages five and up. Captain Grant is a father himself and has the patience and friendly demeanor to make fishing fun and accessible for kids. He ensures a safe environment and will take the time to teach them the basics. Seeing a child reel in their first fish is one of the biggest rewards of our job, and we strive to make it a positive and exciting experience for the entire family.

The beauty of our local bay system is the year-round fishing opportunity, though the target species can shift with the seasons. During the hot summer months, we often find aggressive Redfish and Speckled Trout, especially during early morning or late evening trips. The summer is also a great time for targeting Black Drum. In the cooler winter months, the water clears up, and Redfish school up in large numbers, making for some incredible sight-casting opportunities. Flounder become a more prominent target during their fall migration as well. Captain Grant’s local knowledge is key to finding the hot bite, no matter the season.

Yes, all anglers aged 17 and older are required by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to have a valid Texas fishing license with a saltwater endorsement. You must purchase this license before you arrive for your charter. They are easily obtainable online through the Texas Parks and Wildlife website or at most local sporting goods stores and even some gas stations in the area. Please be sure to have it with you, either as a physical copy or accessible on your phone, on the day of your trip.
